Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is often dubbed the Niagara of Indonesia due to its semi-circular, wide curtain of water. Located on the border of Malang and Lumajang, this 120-meter-high waterfall flows natural spring water directly from Mount Semeru. Lowering down to the canyon floor challenges your adrenaline with bamboo stairs and rivers with moderate currents.
Not far from Tumpak Sewu lies Kapas Biru Waterfall, which is equally spectacular. Surrounded by high reddish cliffs covered with thick green moss, Kapas Biru offers a more magical, quiet, and mystical atmosphere. The waterfall is named Kapas Biru (Blue Cotton) because its swift, white water flows smoothly like a sheet of cotton with a bluish hue.
To visit both destinations, it is highly recommended to wear mountain sandals with a strong grip because the track is slippery and wet. Come as early as possible to avoid thick fog and make sure to bring a waterproof camera bag because the waterfall mist at the canyon bottom is very dense.
